Memories from our land
From the ancient Greek settlements up to the present, this is the land of wine whose production has a centuries history and heritage.
Our land
history of heritage
We share with the remaining of Sicily the same origin, legends and myths. Over the centuries each domination left clear marks of its passing now viewable in the architecture, art, traditions. Here the towns are distinguished for the Baroque style of landmarks, churches and more, so UNESCO has recognized this territory as World Heritage Site. Our town Vittoria, founded in 1607, took the name from its founder Countess Vittoria Colonna. It’s located in a flourishing plain above the ruins of the Greek settlement of Kamarina on the shore of the river of Ippari. Thanks to the climate and the features of soil it was possible to high-quality farming. In few time, this forsaken region became one of the most prosperous of Eastern Sicily. Mainly the farmers have been focused on vineyards and the production of wine so the territory is known as the land of wine.
OUR TERROIR AND WINEYARDS
We’ve aimed on Sicilian native grapes ’cause believe in their strenghts.
Soil&Climate
suitable for farming
The soil above which are planted our vineyards is featured a red sand surface under which there’s a second layer of limestone. This texture ensures a balanced water supply to the plant so can guarantee an excellent product, help to improve the sun exposition and the Mediterranean climate condition. Care for the natural environment, organic sustainable farming are the practices of having the finest product with the care of traditions. Undertaking to preserve our winemaking heritage is our mission since ever that we carried out farming Sicilian native grapes that in the Island have found a suitable climate condition and a fertile soil to grow up over the centuries. Grapes like Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Catarratto and Insolia, are typical expressions of the excellent wines of our region and of that island, called Sicily, suited for the production of great wines.
